After a nice week of rest and fun with the whole family, we set out from our rented cottage at 4:30 or so. Unpleasant transit through Norwich Airport, two short flights via Amsterdam and Geneva, hour long minibus ride, and we arrived at Hotel du Bois in Les Houches. Rainy and not hot (though also not cold–will we ever be cold on this trip?)
Our hotel
Impressive run off from the mountain
We found a quick lunch at La Brasserie, where we discovered that pretty much every dish incorporates a pungent cheese. Can you see the travel weariness in me?
Rain! Quite heavy too. But tomorrow is forecast to be bright sunshine and warm/hot.
Time for a quick drone flight…
Tomorrow, all sorts of decisions. I don’t feel up to the initial climb out of the village, so I’m going to take the telepherique. Dave is going to walk up. Very unclear at the moment if there are facilities at the top (coffee, food, etc) where we can meet up. Hope the tourist office is open and helpful in the morning.
