Six weeks from yesterday, we’ll have set out from St Bees. Six weeks from today is a super short 5.5 mile walk from Cleator to Ennerdale. I’m obsessively checking email/mail for the promised packet from Packhorse containing exact lodgings for each night. Can’t wait to set up the exact route and import it into Outdoor Map Navigator.
Preparations are going well. Just bought a one way ticket from Euston to St Bees. Aside from how we get from Robin Hoods Bay to Scarborough on the last day, I think that’s all the transportation details set.
Training has been going great, for me anyway! April was a banner month: 207.7 miles, so basically a Coast to Coast over 30 days instead of the 22 days we will take. And a lot less altitude. Unfortunately, MapMyWalk doesn’t give total elevation gain for a month, only per workout. But my guess is that the month of April probably had a tenth of the elevation gain we’ll be dealing with on the C2C, and for the Lake District portion the difference will be even more pronounced. On the plus side, during the C2C there will be no other life to live…no work, no making meals, no driving. I am entirely confident that it will be doable, and probably easier than the last time.
